This Japanese elm escapes from the circular enclosure designed by German artist Klaus Littmann by growing upwards. It reminds me that my daily garden drawings are often flat and two-dimensional whereas they too could shoot upwards, break the boundaries of the five sections and reach for the sun like this keyaki.
